Decision Rationality and Risk Communication: The Ambiguity and Ambivalence Hypothesis
We view risky choice as a function of cue use with priorities in the context of risk communication. Evolutionary, ecological and social rationalities consider not only distributions in monetary payoff but also variance in biological fitness and social relatedness. An Ambiguity and Ambivalence (AA) hypothesis was proposed to identify two key preconditions contributing to decision biases and judgmental errors as a result of cue absence, cue use, or cue conflict in the course of risk communication.
